The project that I learned from the most is the archetype. I also believe that I enjoyed this project the most because I was able to choose my own topic and do my own research. An archetype is the stereotypical characters that play a role in a story that is recycled throughout history. The project’s objective was for us to find an archetype and do research on it to make a slideshow on it and find examples from film.
My first problem was that I didn’t want to do one of the generic archetypes like the hero or monster that have been used forever and always get the limelight. On the list of archetypes that we had I didn’t see one that would relate to me or one that I could do and be passionate about enough to put my whole power into. So I decided to make my own archetype where I would be able to research something that I like and do a good enough job that I would be proud of the assignment so it wouldn’t just be a school project. And I chose the archetype, the Not so Monstrous monster.
I chose to work alone because I knew that I am not good in a group dynamic and work better alone. I like the project because I was able to do it at the beginning of the year before we used the confusing advanced programs that are supposed to make life easier yet fail at their purpose.
My problem solving skills weren’t really needed as I was able to do the work easily. The fact that unlike other classes we were able to use the wikispaces at home and at school so I was able to work on it as soon as I got home instead of letting my ideas fall out of my head when I went to sleep at night and forget about them the next day.
I believe that this project is important because it teaches people about where the characters from their television shows and books and movies come from. This allows people to build their own creativity off the characters and perhaps think of something creative that they could do instead of believing that someone just magically discovered these characters.
